Weddings

St Michael's is a beautiful location for a wedding.

Did you know that you don't have to be a regular church-goer to be able to marry in church? If you live in the parish of Kirkby-in-Malhamdale, or have a family connection with our church (see the link below under the 'Who can be married here' tab to find out more) you can be married here, in this beautiful 15th century church. A church wedding enables you to make your promises to eachother in the presence of God as well as your friends and families, in a place where generations of couples have made their promises over the years, which we believe will strengthen your marriage in the years to come. God’s blessing is the most important element for many couples, whatever their beliefs, and we are pleased to offer this within the framework of the Church of England wedding service.

Why Marry in Church?
There are lots of options. We can blend ancient tradition and modern experience in the service, to make your wedding personal, memorable, meaningful, and beautiful. You can choose readings and poems that are meaningful to you, they don't have to be 'religious.' We have several organists, each of whom can play the traditional wedding music (such as Wagner’s Bridal Chorus, and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March), or you can have contemporary music played over our sound system. And if you’d like church bells to welcome your guests and to help you celebrate your special day, we have a team of bell ringers! The Vicar will meet with you to find out what you'd like, and to help you plan the service in line with your wishes.

Wedding Blessings

If you have been married in a civil ceremony, and would now like a service of blessing in church with friends and family, there are a variety of options that we can offer you.

Who can be married here at St Michael’s?

Anyone who lives in our parish, or who has a 'qualifying connection' with St Michael's can be married here. Please take a look at the Church of England Weddings website Church of England Weddings and go to the 'finding a church' page to find out more about qualifying connections.
